Bumble Bees’ appearance and size can be up to one inch in length. They are yellow and black in color with hairy bodies giving them a fuzzy appearance. They will consume honey and nectar like most bees. Bumble bee hives/nests are located in ground cavities, but some can be located in wood piles, walls, sheds, crawl spaces or even an occasional attic.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The bumble bees will attack to defend their nest, so they are considered a health concern. Mature bumble bees nests contain anywhere from 50-400 bees at any given time. Most home owners stumble upon a nest when mowing the lawn.
