Bumble Bees’ appearance and size can be up to one inch in length. They are yellow and black in color with hairy bodies giving them a fuzzy appearance. They will consume honey and nectar like most bees. Bumble bee hives/nests are located in ground cavities, but some can be located in wood piles, walls, sheds, crawl spaces or even an occasional attic.

The bumble bees will attack to defend their nest, so they are considered a health concern. Mature bumble bees nests contain anywhere from 50-400 bees at any given time. Most home owners stumble upon a nest when mowing the lawn.
